About the Colorado Rockies
The Colorado Rockies are a Major League Baseball team based in Denver, Colorado, competing in the National League West division. Founded as an expansion team in 1993, the Rockies have been playing at Coors Field since the ballpark opened in April 1995.
The team is known for its purple and black uniforms and for playing at one of the most unique environments in professional sports. At 5,280 feet above sea level, Coors Field is the highest-altitude MLB stadium, and the thin air has a significant effect on gameplay — particularly on home runs and batting averages.
Notable Rockies players throughout the franchise's history include Larry Walker (Hall of Fame, 2020), Todd Helton (Hall of Fame, 2024), Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story, Carlos González, and Matt Holliday. The team reached the World Series in 2007 and the NL Wild Card in 2018.
